After independence the Institut Geodezii i Kartografii pri
Pravitel'stve Respubliki Armenii (IGKA) in the Ministry of
Urban Development was established in Yerevan as the national
mapping agency. Small scale mapping of Armenia has been
revised extensively and an active publishing program exists as of 2015. The Department of Geodesy and
Cartography in the same Ministry announced a program
of digital conversion with plans to capture series at 1:50,000;
1:200,000; 1:500,000 and 1:1,000,000 scales in 1998-1999. In the 2010-2015 period, entirely new topographic map series
have been surveyed and published at the 1:25,000 and 1:10,000 scales.
